    Youth Initiative

The Youth Initiative Program at Search Inc. provides students who are aging out of the public school system with pre-employment transition supports. Post graduation, this group of people faces additional challenges due to the loss of the supports they receive from school and transition programs. It is a collaboration between the Division of Rehabilitation Services (DRS), school transition services and a community service provider.

The Youth Initiative aims to increase vocational skills, connect youth with work opportunities, continuing education, social networking opportunities, and to provide support and service resources to students, schools and families. The goal is to make the transition to adult living as smooth as possible and help participants achieve the best path for success! The Youth Initiative Program offers pre-vocational opportunities in five areas:

  • Job Exploration Counseling
  • Work-Based Learning
  • Post-Secondary Education Resources
  • Workplace Readiness Training
  • Instruction in Self-Advocacy
