Direct support professionals are people who provide care and support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. DSPs help individuals to lead a better quality life, including helping them be more accepted in the community. DSPs offer their services in different places, from residential homes and adult learning programs to jobs in the community. While a DSP plays a crucial role in the lives of others, they are not a boss. DSPs bear a lot of responsibility in helping a person become self-sufficient and lead an independent lifestyle.
The role and responsibilities of our AMAZING DSPs include, but are not limited to:
- Teaching life skills
- Supporting with daily living skills and personal support needs
- Supporting individuals to be active members of their communities
- Maintaining a safe, healthy and comfortable environment
- Respecting and supporting dignity, privacy and confidentiality
- Providing and seeking out opportunities for choices
- Assisting to develop healthy relationships
- Assisting with conflict resolution
- Providing opportunities for activities various settings and transportation as needed
- Completing needed reporting and documentation
- Assisting with medication administration

Applicants need to meet the following requirements:
- A valid driver’s license
- Proof of high school education or GED
- Diplomas obtained from outside of the US must be evaluated by an accredited evaluation company
- A clean driving record; no more than one moving violation, no suspensions, no DUIs, etc.
- Must be at least 21 years old; for some positions you must be at least 23 years old in order to meet PACE certification requirements
- Must be able to pass several background checks, including criminal and CANTS
- Must be able to pass basic literacy check

- 9am-2:30pm in Rogers Park, Mount Prospect (part time)
- Some weekdays 3pm-11pm & Saturday and Sunday 3pm-11pm in Skokie, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect (full time)
- Saturday and/or Sunday 8am-4pm in northern Chicago, Skokie, Morton Grove, Mount Prospect (part time)
- Overnight position, Morton Grove
DSP: $19/hour
Lead DSP: $21/hour
