Designs for Dignity Gives Search CILA a Refresh

Earlier this year, Search was invited to participate in a Residential Furniture Replacement Program offered through Designs for Dignity and The Coleman Foundation. Through this collaborative program, our Central Park Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) now has completely new living room and dining room furniture!
Providers like Search are challenged to maintain the quality of their residential sites over the long term. At Search, we do everything we can to maintain beautiful, accessible and safe living arrangements for the individuals in our Residential program. But, over the years, normal wear and tear eventually takes its toll. Replacing old or outdated furniture can be costly and is not covered by the funding we receive from the State. Designs for Dignity and The Coleman Foundation have stepped in to make a big difference on this front.
With guidance from the volunteer professional designer and team provided by Designs for Dignity, residents and staff were supported to choose the style, color, and fabric of their new furnishings. The upgrade greatly improved the function of the home for the eight men who live there, as well as the staff who support them.
Designs for Dignity is a local nonprofit in Chicago with the mission of transforming nonprofit environments through pro bono design services and in-kind donations. Ultimately their goal is to empower lives through design. It was an exciting opportunity for Search to partner with them on this project and we look forward to working with them in the future! Thanks very much to The Coleman Foundation for providing funding to make this all possible.
