Employee Spotlight: Cherry

Cherry Pinkins began working at Search in January 2018. She recently was promoted to Lead DSP at our Mt Prospect Adult Learning site.  Her passion is to advocate for those who cannot do so for themselves and promote and encourage people to be the best that they can be.  Cherry started out in this field as a teenager.  She has a sister with a disability and would volunteer in the summer working at her school with her and her friends.

Here is what Cherry says about being a DSP at Search:

The most rewarding part of my job is making a difference in people’s lives with the hope of making things a little less complicated for them.  When things get tough what keeps me motivated is the smiles of the individuals.

My favorite part of working for Search is being exposed to new experiences.  My advice for people who are thinking about this career is to have patience; not everyone is cut out to be in this field.  You have to have heart to deal with what comes your way and don’t take it personally.

My activities outside of work are wine collecting and completing my degree in social work as I am currently in school. Upon completing my degree I want to continue my work at Search as a QIDP.  I’m also a Super-Hero to my parents, sister, and daughter. I’m the person they all lean on, however, I have to master how to take off my Super-Hero cap from time to time.
