For the first time in three years, we are thrilled to gather together in-person with our supporters to celebrate our mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live full and meaningful lives.

Guests will enjoy a cocktail hour with a silent auction, live program, seated dinner, videos, awards, and more.

After having to stay apart for so long, it is fitting that this year we will be joining together to pay tribute to our community roots just miles away from where Search was founded in the Cabrini Green neighborhood of Chicago. Search’s legacy is shared by many. Throughout its over 50 year history, Search has grown deep roots and long-lasting partnerships within the vibrant communities it serves.

After an incredibly difficult two years, we are delighted to take this opportunity to look back at our history as well as forward to the new chapters that await us in the future.

Our 2022 Trailblazers Award honorees remind us of the power of our legacy of leadership, innovation, and community partnerships. Over decades, their contributions have paved the way for the inclusion of people with disabilities in all aspects of community life.

This year’s honorees are John Lipscomb, former Search President & CEO and a leader in the intellectual and developmental disability field for over 2 decades, and Wintrust, a long-time banking partner of Search and leader in the community banking industry. We are thrilled to honor these two important members of the Search community for their instrumental role in building, growing, and sustaining Search’s mission.

Cory Gumm, Search’s Chief Executive Officer, shared her excitement for Trailblazers 2022, “The work we do at Search is essential for those we support.  I very much look forward to celebrating the groundbreaking work Search did in the past; recognizing that it has positioned us strongly for our future successes.”

Search Trailblazers provides a unique opportunity to connect with and learn more about Search’s important work. All funds raised from this event will go to support critical housing, education, employment, and support services for over 350 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living throughout the Chicagoland area.

Sponsorships, silent auction items and donations are welcomed. Please reach out to Grace Lipscomb, Development Manager, at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. to learn more about ways to get involved or find additional information here.
