Search for Adventure Takes California
In November, we kicked our FIRST Search for Adventure out of state trip in two and a half years! Where did we go? California!
3 travelers jetted off to Universal Studios Hollywood! Eventually we made our way to Santa Barbara, where we checked out the Marine Center on the Santa Barbara Pier. Then, we visited our friends at Toad&Co in Santa Barbara.
One of our Toad friends, Zoe, shared, "I had been looking forward to going on a Search for Adventure trip since I started at Toad&Co, so I was stoked to go to Universal Studios for the day with new friends from Search. I had heard about how fun SFA trips are, and it did not disappoint! As someone from California who has been to Universal Studios multiple times, it was awesome to share it with people who had never been before."
In Jennifer’s words, our Community Inclusion Coordinator (aka Dr. Fun), “SFA kicked of its first post-pandemic trip to resume the Friendsgiving tradition with our long-time pals at Toad&Co. Two of our Toad friends, Zoe and Tyler, met up with all five of us at Universal Studios in Hollywood (an SFA first! Pro tip: go on the Harry Potter ride last…) The next morning we ventured along the Pacific Highway to Santa Barbara, where we brunched, touched some starfish, had an epic game of ping pong, toured the Toad's headquarters, stunned with our dominance at the corn hole pit, threw a perfect frisbee arc to a perfect Toad dog, then sat down to a homemade Thanksgiving feast under a beautiful dusky sky in Southern California, complete with a cranberry sauce made with yellow raisins. (Jury is still out on that one...) Looks like when we Search for Adventure, we still find it!”
What is Search for Adventure? Search for Adventure (SFA) is a unique travel program that offers people with disabilities vacation experiences to destinations near and far. Getaways have included hiking the historic Appalachian Trail, experiencing the majesty of the Grand Canyon and riding the range at the Powderhorn Dude Ranch in Colorado. Trips are planned around the interests and preferences of a small group of fellow adventure seekers. You can learn more here.
We cannot wait for our adventures in 2023!
