"Search Squad" Competes in the Special Olympics!

We are very excited to announce that Search has created its first ever Special Olympics team - The "Search Squad"!

The Squad was formed in spring 2018 and has been hard at work training in bowling and track & field. On Sunday, June 3rd, our team competed in their first Special Olympics Bowling Sectionals Tournament. We had nineteen athletes compete with about 650 other athletes from the area. It was an incredible experience and all of the bowlers really had a great time. Guy G. was our big winner at the Bowling Sectionals! He qualified for the Regional Tournament that will be held in July.

On Friday, June 15th - Sunday, June 17th, sixteen of our track & field athletes went to the Illinois State Summer Special Olympics Games to compete with 4,000 other athletes from across the state! The Search Squad woke up bright and early to travel to the games at ISU in Bloomington Normal. They even had laminated dorm room signs with notes wishing them good luck. Our athletes participated in numerous events, many winning medals!

Special thanks to Danni Koscielak and all of our other team members who have dedicated so much time and effort to making the Search Squad a reality.
