Q: How did you get started in this career?
A: Someone who has worked for Search for over 10 years introduced me to this career. Previously I was with Chicago Park District; there I learned that I have a passion for teaching in creative ways. I am also very passionate about advocating a better quality of life for others. In this career I pursue both of those passions.
Q: What is the most rewarding part of your job?
A: Most rewarding is the happiness on someone’s face when you take the time to do something an individual wants to do.
Q: How do you stay motivated when things get tough?
A: I use spiritual motivation on tough days. I say a little prayer. I think of something positive to say to encourage and push myself.
Q: What is your favorite part of working for Search?
A: Being in an environment where everyone’s goal is to help people Live and Enjoy Life the way they deserve. Being able to put my creativity to use within the site and out in the community.
Q: What advice do you have for people who are thinking about this career?
A: If you care about the well-being and equality of others, this career is for you. If you’ve ever wanted to do something selfless, this is for you. If you want to help others create positive memories, work for Search Inc
Also: Build friendships. Don’t be afraid to become that person someone can confide in. Think outside that box and create new ways to teach life skills. Have fun and get involved in the community. Create memories.
Q: What activities, interests or hobbies do you have outside of work?
A: I enjoy cooking. My daughter and I love being in the kitchen creating meals together. I also love dancing; there’s something about moving to music with no judgement that’s completely freeing. I enjoy being out in the community interacting in various ways, especially when volunteering.
Thank you for your great work Martina!
