Q: What attracted you to work at Search?

A: Growing up, my eldest brother had intellectual and developmental disabilities. He always strived to be his best and wanted to prove everyone wrong. He completed high school and started college. He always wanted to be able to find a job and no one ever wanted to hire him. He never let anything discourage him. As soon as I read the mission statement and the all-around vision of Search Inc., it really hit home for me and pushed me to pursue a journey that was personal to me.

Q: Tell us a little more about your career journey at Search.

A:I started in March 2013 as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the ALP Lincoln location. After a couple years as a DSP, I was promoted as Lead DSP. After 5 years of working with Search, I gave birth to my youngest daughter and took a year and a half off. I was so grateful that I was able to be rehired on March 2020 as a DSP for ALP. After working a couple of month in 2020, COVID-19 hit which made it a very tough year for everyone. I was glad that I was able to help the individuals adjust to the drastic change that we all had to adapt to.

As the ALP programs at Search had to shut down, Search had to change things around company-wide. I was offered an SLP Lead position. ALP and SLP are completely different, and I was lucky enough to have been able to be a part of both departments. I stood as an SLP Lead for a year. I decided I was going to plant my roots here with Search, which meant the only way is up and to continue to grow. My next endeavor and current position with Search is as the Administrative & Development Assistant. Through every step forward that I’ve taken at the company, I’ve always been encourage to push myself and to know what I’m capable of by management and co-workers.

Q: Tell us about your experience on Search for Adventure trips.

A: I had the pleasure of joining the individuals on such a beautiful canoeing trip. It was something new for the individuals and myself. It’s the best gift to see so many smiles and excitement when going on different adventures. Search for Adventure is such a great addition to Search and another program that make Search such a great company to work for.

A: What are you looking forward to in the future with Search?

Q: I am looking forward to being even more involved, to be a part of more success and greatness, to grow and excel and to always keep taking steps forward for my maximum achievement.
