Trailblazers 2021 Honorees: Resurrection University; Frontline Staff

Search Inc. (Search) is excited to announce its signature annual event, SEARCH TRAILBLAZERS 2021: Creating Inclusive Communities – Piece by Piece! On Thursday, May 20th at 7 PM, join Search on Zoom to celebrate their mission of empowering individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This virtual event will feature a live program, videos, awards, giveaways and a silent auction.

This year’s theme, Creating Inclusive Communities – Piece by Piece, celebrates the many pieces that come together to create the rich patchwork of the Search community of care. Each of these pieces is stitched together by a shared vision: inclusive communities for people with disabilities. Our 2021 Trailblazer Award honorees embody this vision and have contributed significantly to the work of creating communities that welcome all their members.

2021 Trailblazer Award recipients will be Resurrection University Nursing and Health Sciences, a long-time clinical partner of Search with 106 years in the education sector, and a leader in the area of disability-aware healthcare, and Search’s Frontline Heroes, who set aside personal risks to support Search residents in their homes during the pandemic. In these unprecedented times, these honorees embody what it means to be a Trailblazer.

Search Inc. CEO Cory Gumm says, “Over the course of this difficult year, our brave Frontline Staff stepped up to support the individuals we serve in ways that are nothing less than amazing and inspiring. We are immensely proud of their dedication and compassion in response to a period of extraordinary challenge and great need.” About Resurrection University Cory says, “For all that they continue to do to ensure that individuals with disabilities are respected, understood and supported, we are thrilled to honor Resurrection University. In the age of COVID, their work has never been more important.  We are so thankful for the work they’ve done at Search and throughout their communities.”

Search Trailblazers provides a unique opportunity to connect with and learn more about Search’s important work. All funds raised from this event will go to support critical housing, education, employment, and support services for over 350 adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities living throughout the Chicagoland area.
